The Roaring
Twenties
I. Music
In the 1920s is when jazz music really just took off
and had a life of its own. There were
many famous musicians that came out during this time such as Louis Armstrong
and King Oliver. Jazz helped influence a
great deal of things such as fashion, poetry and industries. Jazz also helped relieve some racial tension
that came up after the end of the first world war. The 20s was also a great time for Broadway
singers such as Al Jolson who was best known for The Jazz Singer, which
later on became a movie. There was also
a lady by the name of Sophie Tucker that became very popular for her role in Honky
Tonk and she gained the nickname "The Last of the Red Hot
Mamas."

There were some big action and comedy movies that
came out during the 1920s. For example
the movie The Navigator came out to theaters in 1924 and became a classic. The Navigator was about a very wealthy man and a sheltered
girl go get deserted on an island and have to fend for themselves after having
people take care of them their entire life.
Also the movie Metropolis came out in 1927. Metropolis is about how in the future the
human society is split into two factions, the thinkers and the workers. It ends up in being a type of Romeo &
Juliet story where a worker falls in love with a thinker and they have to
figure out how to be together.

The 1920s was a great time for vehicles. Ford had just invented the first assembly

In the 20s owning a car was becoming so important to life that at the
end of 1929 over forty-three companies were building cars to help support the
growth of consumer needs. Of course the
biggest hitter was the Ford Motor Company with their Model T car, which was
also a very popular gangster car in the 20s.
But soon after other companies such as Chevrolet and Dodge were making
their way into the automobile industry with their 1924 car called "The
Superior Roadster".

IV. Clothes
In the 1920s women started dressing more
aggressively than they had in the past.
Some women started wearing dresses that came to their knees which was
unheard of during that time. Some of
them also started wearing stockings where people could see and that made other
people think that they were being promiscuous.
The men on the other hand started dressing up with their fancy suits,
ties and hats. Even criminals, such as
the mob, where dressing with style with the brand new suits and brand new
designed hats.

V. Events
One of the biggest events that happened in the 1920s
was the Prohibition Act. This act banned
the sell and consumption of alcohol across many states in America. Women, and some men, said that it changed
good men into horrible people and it should never be consumed again. Another even that happened was the the stock market
crash in 1929. The crash caused America
to go into a great depression that we did not climb out of until the beginning
of World War II.
